With all this talk of big toy sales

I have a confession to make. I actually started my Xmess shopping a month ago, before any of the toy sales started.

I just didn’t want to be the first to mention the dreaded ‘C’ word. ;)

I won’t say what I’ve gotten so far because my children often read my blog, but suffice to say that one of them will be looking super smart!

With the youngest now 11 the toy sales are no longer a focus for us. Sure they are useful if we are planning a bigger purchase, like the Wii a couple of years back, but we are leaving the era of toys behind. Now everything is clothes, and shoes, and accessories, and CD’s, and DVD’s, and I-tunes vouchers, and books, and Wii games, and DS games, and the like – most of which can be purchased closer to December on better specials that what’s on offer at this time of year.

But still, I have made a start and after years of developing the habit of getting started at this time of year, I feel some sense of relief at that.

Now I just need to find a good hiding spot to stash the goodies as I accumulate them…. I wonder if my mum has room at her place!

I’ve been buying a few little bits and pieces throughout the year and putting them away…especially stocking fillers because that’s what I usually forget to buy in the mad Christmas rush.

I’m seriously considering getting hubby to fix up some space in the roof so I can store plastic tubs up there for Christmas storage….and that way the kids won’t think to snoop up there!

Stocking fillers seem to get lost in the rush here too. I should be picking up bits and pieces for those sooner rather than later too.

Oooo I hadn’t thought of sneaky roof storage. Definitely a place our kids wouldn’t think to snoop either!

    Well done on getting started!
I used to begin lay-bying stuff straight after Easter, but in the last few years I’ve been quite slack in this department.
Of course, the grandkids are older now and appreciate things such as mobile phone credit and gift vouchers more than toys, and there’s really no need to layby those sorts of things.

Yes, vouchers are much easier to buy anytime. And CD’s or DVD’s are often something you want to leave till right on Xmess to get the latest releases.
