Apparently.
According to Miss Lou
I snuck a note into her bag for her trip last week. Since they had such a limited and strict list of things they could and couldn’t take, I did something a little tricky and wrote her an encouraging note on the fourth or fifth page in of her notebook that she had to take with her.
It wasn’t a soppy note. I don’t do soppy but I do do encouraging. The note was just to say how nice it has been the past month having my smiley girl around instead of the stressed, panicky girl she had been and that I hoped the smiley happy girl was the one who was at camp. I also said that I hoped she wasn’t stressing and was giving things a go because I know she can do anything she puts her mind to when she wants to.
She discovered the note a couple of days in to the camp during a low moment after a tough day climbing a mountain when she was all exhausted and homesick. So of course she immediately burst into tears and read it out the other girls who were all exhausted and emotional and set them off feeling homesick too.
Apparently some of the other girls were questioning why their parents didn’t think to do something similar. I’m actually wondering why some of the other parents didn’t think to do something similar too. Part of the point of the whole camp experience was to give the kids some growing experiences to aid them on their way to adulthood and I would have thought that some encouraging words from parents about the people they want their kids to be or the adults they could see them becoming wouldn’t have been out of place. *shrugs* but that’s just me.
So, that’s how to make a group of girls, who are nearly 200 km’s away at a camp with no possible way to contact anyone, cry.
What has everyone else accomplished this past week? LOL

Awww, that is so sweet.
I haven’t made anyone cry, but I’m working on it. And I’m not being encouraging with it, lol.

Oh dear. I laughed. Just as well they weren’t soppy words.

I must admit that thought floated through my head too
They’d have all been crying rivers is I did soppy! lol
Oh that is so lovely! You are a GREAT mum!
Ok, you’re goals have been achieved for this year – you’re voted to stay on the island with us lol
now that’s quite an accomplishment! LOL
That is a wonderful idea
with a very amusing result
I write notes to Annie occasionally that I stick in her lunch box. Sometimes just a simple smiley face or a heart picture, sometimes a little encouraging sentence, nothing very long.
You made me tear up, too!
Good on you for being left thinking enough to give that to your girl – and all of her friends.
I probably would have been one of the parents who didn’t write anything. Such a nice idea.
Girl, making a giggle of girls cry from 200 k’s away?
You are my new superhero.
You can wear the Robo Boot. *snigger*
That’s a very sweet thing you did. I used to write notes to my eldest girl and leave them on her pillow. Something along the lines of “clean this room or I’ll move you in with your sister” Worked like a charm.
