Shadow did something that he doesn’t normally do earlier tonight, he wandered out of our yard, perhaps drawn by the tom cat looking to claim territory over our feline companions or perhaps looking for his litter mates (our girls) who had been in our front yard a little while before walking to their friend’s house and he was hit by a car. He was killed instantly. A kind neighbour saw him and let us know within minutes of it happening but there was nothing we could do. His body is now buried under a tree – a favourite resting place in our yard – but I’m sure his spirit is in doggy heaven. The place of eternal digging, playing, snoozing and chasing.
How terribly sad. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Oh how sad! I am so sorry. We had a chinese pug one time and the same thing happened. She was so little and I thought my husband had her and he thought she was inside with me. It just about killed me. I feel your pain. People who do not have pets don’t understand that they are just like a member of our family. I am so sorry.
