yesterday sucked.
Pretty much everything about it sucked.
I guess it all wouldn’t have been as bad if we’d had some good news on the court front. My bro was in court yesterday over his kids. I know I haven’t mentioned that in a while. I was hoping to have some good news to share with my internets by now but apparently it wasn’t to be.
Over new years the SWIL met a new bloke. Someone she went to school with years ago (before she dropped out at 14), but hadn’t seen for at least 10 years. So of course, within a week she’s all but moved this bloke in to her home and was planning on moving down the coast to his home.
The kids were terrified. They told us that they stayed up all night the first night waiting to see if he was anything like the bloke who beat her up in front of them. They saw him doing things to their mother on the lounge with his clothes off. As it progressed they told us they thought mummy didn’t love them anymore because she spent all her time locked in her bedroom with this man and ignoring them. My bro was not allowed to meet this man or even know his name.
They went to mediation and my bro didn’t agree to her moving because this is the god knows how many’th bloke since their bust up and who knows how long this one will last. Her lawyer and his lawyer and the mediator told her that she couldn’t move without court permission and had to show good reasons for moving to gain it. She tried to convince my bro to move too but he wasn’t interested in following her following her latest fuck around the countryside.
So of course she did it anyway. Two days before the start of school about an hour after he dropped them home after his night with them. Without telling anyone.
The first my bro knew of it was when he showed up to collect the kids from their first day back at school and the principal asked him what he was doing there because they’d been advised that the kids were enrolled in a school down the coast.
He’s seen them once since then, for a whole 2 minutes. Just long enough to give them a kiss and a cuddle and tell them that he loved them before she bundled them back into a car and told him he wasn’t getting them again.
She can’t seem to get it through her head that mother’s don’t have all the rights anymore. That they don’t get to hold access to their children over the head’s of the father’s like a weapon. That my brother has rights too. She doesn’t seem to care that she’s broken court orders by not letting him see his kids and moving them out of town when he’s meant to have them two nights a week.
So now the matter has gone beyond local court. It’s gone to family court at Cenberra. My bro is trying to get a recovery order to get his kids back and the hearing was yesterday.
She has been ringing him, taunting him, telling him that he’ll never see his kids again and should have been nicer to her.
She gave a false address to my bro’s laywer.
They can’t find her.
So the whole thing got adjourned for a fortnight.
She’s broken the court orders, she’s moved 4 1/2 hours away against legal advice and without court permission. I don’t understand why they can’t just issue a recovery order so that the police can start looking for her. It’s bullshit.
Just freakin bullshit!

I hope it gets sorted out soon, luv. The wheels of bureaucracy are slow as all get out, but they usually get there eventually.

So do I. We keep telling my bro the same thing and to just keep hanging in there until she hangs herself completely.
That is so unfair to her kids!!!
I was a single mother and know how hard it is when you have a really valid reason for not giving your ex open access, both in your psyche and in law.

I’ve been in the same position too Jeanie and it sucks.
I think the worst bit for my bro has been realising that she’s just not capable of being the mother that his children deserve and he’s still coming to terms with that.
That sucks big hairy dogs’ balls, B.
FFS, how screwed up do the kids have to get before someone takes action?
I’d seriously love to see the day when someone sues the state dept for dicking around – it’s the only thing that makes them smarten up their act.

He’s complained to various departments and they are “investigating” ie sitting on their hands while she spins stories and tries to make herself look like the victem. *rolls eyes*
Thats just awful. I really dont understand how a mother can put a “boyfriend” before her kids,in a way that could be harmful to them. Hope everything gets better. I feel for the kids.

She is the most self centred, self absorbed, self serving, selfish creature I have ever met.
A wise person told me not that long ago that ppl like her leave a wide trail of destruction behind them and you don’t want to be around when it catches up with them – we are praying it is about to catch up with her before the kids are put through anymore shit.
The thinking of some people eludes me.
It always amazes me that people use their children as pawns in their sick games, with no seeming thought for the effect on the poor little buggers…
The courts won’t tolerate it any more…they can, and DO, jail people for these things, be they men or women.
We had a similar situation with my hubbys ex, and she got told…bring them back, allow him access, or we WILL jail you…she was told her actions were not accetpable, and contempt is a serious thing…..
Tell your brother to hang in there B…these kids will grow up and leave their mother…I know that doesn’t make it any easier at the moment, but he needs to hang on for grim life…..ultimatley he will come out on top…we did..it took some years to have that happen, but when it did, we were told by the girls that we did the right thing, and they knew it wasn;t easy for us…the sweetest words we ever heard….
What’s happening now sucks for sure, and absolutley it’s bullshit….the sad part is there are so many parents and kids in the same situation and all they can do is keep at it, and keep believing the system will ultimatley do the right thing…not easy though….
