We are having an up and down week around here. Miss Lou’s father’s family are still carrying on with their shit and it’s getting nasty. Nasty bullshit wears thin after a while. Especially when you are being blamed for everything under the sun except the current global financial crisis though I’m sure that will be the subject of the next round of sledging.
Yesterday, my hubby decided that I could use a distraction.
So he rings me from the fire station at 8pm to see if I wanted to help do a food run out to a big fire in our area.
He was meant to be leaving for work, the kids were finishing their homework and needing to get organised for bed, I needed to drop some stuff up to Miss Lou who was at her nan’s for the night and he wanted me to drop everything to go tripping around the countryside.
Needless to say I turned the offer down.
Around 11 o’clock last night I hear a comment over the scanner about where to locate food for the firefighters on the ground.
The food run people were still out there.
I ring hubby and he’s gobsmacked.
Apparently the food was only meant to be picked up in town and taken to the fire for the local small community’s CWA to prepare, cook and serve. Should have taken about an hour tops to run out there and back.
I don’t know why he was surprised, he really should have known better. The motto of the fire service is ‘hurry up and wait’ after all – there is no such thing as a quick job! lol
I told him next time he wants to distract me from my worries to go with something more practical………… like a stiff drink and a good book. And chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.

I could go with a stiff drink myself. Hopefully things will turn around for you soon.

lol – and no doubt the food run people were in need of a good chocolate too after the wait!!

Do they need step-by-step instructions or something? Where were the local CWA’s that were supposed to be cooking and distributing? Did no-one tell them this was their job? (maybe they were all at home saving their houses from fire?)
Here’s chocolate to you, raises mug of milo.
Thank goodness you didn’t go.
Hope the pond scum back off soon.
I have blog bling for you.
