I don't do resolutions, I find them tiresome and a waste of time, but goals for across the year are a fabulous idea. I've done the whole "write down every single cent you spend" thing in the past, and it's quite staggering when you look back over a month, and the ways you find to cut things down is a lot easier. She uses grow bags from the garden centre and has a productive portable garden. If you write down every single cent that you spend just in one week you will be quite surprised at how much "spare change" you spend on not much at all. $2 here $2 there soon adds up to $20.
